Mission Statement

Our Values

At Purple Turtle Theatre, we value building confidence and creativity within young people, whilst facilitating new friendships and fun in a safe and nurturing environment.

Having grown up acting, dancing, singing, and being silly ourselves, we are committed to bringing self-expression, laughs and silliness, but most importantly self-belief to every workshop, class and camp that we deliver.

Why choose Purple Turtle?

Well. Without trying to sound too cheesy (but failing), we believe that every child has the opportunity to come out of their shell through theatre. We jumped out of our metaphorical shells with theatre's help many years ago, and we want to help your children do the same.

In 2004, a study found that primary school pupils taking part in a National Theatre drama programme had significantly increased oratory skills (the ability to speak and listen), which in turn had positive effects on their overall enjoyment of school and their all-important self-esteem. The study found that Drama and Theatre are key to learning the principles of working with others towards shared goals, improved literacy skills, and promoting creativity. You can read about it more here.

Through our performing arts workshops, children can expect to have their voices championed and amplified, their skillsets improved and widened, and their creativity boosted and celebrated.

We are a small company - only 4 of us - and our friendships grew from our love of theatre. We each bring unique skillsets and perspectives into the room, and we treat children as creative collaborators rather than pupils. Our workshops are a chance for your child to express themselves through art; a place where they can fail with confidence and succeed with passion.
